Getting Ready for the Holidays

This time of year there are endless lines on my to-do list.
Work Party, Ward Party, Christiansen Kids Party, Keller
Family Party, Recipe Group Exchange & Craft evening,
Bunko, not to mention, SR Girls Basketball (which even
Chris commented, "is fun to watch"), SR Boys Basketball,
SR Wrestling, Girlfriends monthly outing, the list just
keeps getting longer. The best part of the Holidays though,
is spending extra time with family & friends. Also its
the time we start to remember all the good things of
Holidays past. My Dad always read the Bible version
of the birth of the Savior on Christmas Eve as we
sat listening in our new Christmas Jammies. When we
were younger we always went to Aunt Margies or Aunt
Becky's or they came to our house to eat and exchange
gifts. Now that we all have our own families and grandkids
we gather at one of my siblings house to eat and exchange
gifts. We have even started another tradition of the gift
pass-around. All of the adults (even the older kids want to
play cause it looks so fun) bring a gift and we take turns
picking one and unwrapping it, keeping it or swapping
it for another that seems better, only to have someone else
trade for it and so on and so on. We took the idea from
Kitty's Baron Family exchange after they told us how much
fun it was. I only hope that our kids will have fond
memories of Holiday gatherings to share with their
little ones.

We already have fond memories of the family get togethers you have. I know I look forward to the gift swap and Christmas lunch every year. I know my kids will have great memories as well as they are growing up, great memories of how wonderful and fun their grandparents are!!
